Ekorce’s latest EP ‘Imago’ is a true testament to his love for nature in all its simplicity, complexity and sheer awesomeness. The listener is taken through themes of transformation, metamorphosis and rebirth via vehicles of surreal symbolism and splendid sonics, also alluding to the last year and a half as perhaps a period of chrysalis for humanity.

The artist, who recently completed his PhD in Neurobiology, likes to use raw, crunchy, organic elements, unusual rhymic patterns and textures to enunciate his amazement at the patent beauty of creation, particularly the chaotic yet delicate wing movements of butterflies. The EP is a window through which one can perceive and marvel at such often overlooked occurrences.

His raw and gutsy sound takes the element of noise, both inner and outer, and puts the listeners in a test of their own resilience. Try out the experience for yourself and you may actually feel a sense of accomplishment that conventional music fails to deliver. It is the same kind of feeling that Batman, the dark knight, must have attained when he conquered his fears, the kind we get when we make peace with the darkness within us.

The past year and a half have been a busy time for UK based composer Seb Taylor. Eight Experiments is a jovial audio journey concocted by veteran musician KiloWatts that achieves a perfectly mesmeric sync between and electro-organic sound and a melodic atmosphere. This breezy and soothing summer jaunt is one of the most exemplary pieces of electronica that I have laid my ears on this year.

Imagine yourself as an explorer who, while swimming in the absolute depths of the ocean, discovers an advanced Atlantean civilisation thriving on the seabed. That’s when the latest Bluetech album ‘Underwater Cities’ cues in, and submerges you in a blissful confluence of modular mastery, sublime subaquatic arpeggios and aquifers of analog goodness. The prolific producer only finds more creativity and strength in his self-imposed limitation, and this record is a conceptual gem that acknowledges certain electronic influences from the past while maintaining the melodic endearment to his classical roots, and most importantly diving deep into the infinite waters of what the future of music holds.
