Pan Electric’s "Music For a Busy Head 2” is the follow up album that comes 2 decades after its predecessor and turns out to be an essential ambient work with a strongly growing relevance with every passing moment that the modern human being spends alive. The music makes it’s presence powerfully felt without the need to impose upon the ears, and emphasises on two of the most the most underestimated yet essential musical tools, space or silence and dynamics, by entwining ambient textures with the versatile palettes of the guitar. Of all the sounds that would be bouncing around in your cranium lately, this record unassumingly catches your attention and denotes the acme of ambient music as of 2020. Give yourself the gift of cleaning up your auditory headroom with this sympathetic ambient symphony. 

Few things do a better job of waking you up better than a good cup of coffee, and high-quality psytrance is definitely one of them. Dirty Saffi is back in a relentless release of the restless lockdown energy with their latest EP 'Out Of Time’. The hardest working couple in psytrance bring us their premium product as always, which consists of their signature double-edged baselines, oxidised leads, and vigorously rolling beats that are guaranteed to shake you from the bones and jolt you into consciousness. Get your fix of full-on psychedelia while we still have the time, and on a full moon night for maximum effect.

Imagine yourself as an explorer who, while swimming in the absolute depths of the ocean, discovers an advanced Atlantean civilisation thriving on the seabed. That’s when the latest Bluetech album ‘Underwater Cities’ cues in, and submerges you in a blissful confluence of modular mastery, sublime subaquatic arpeggios and aquifers of analog goodness. The prolific producer only finds more creativity and strength in his self-imposed limitation, and this record is a conceptual gem that acknowledges certain electronic influences from the past while maintaining the melodic endearment to his classical roots, and most importantly diving deep into the infinite waters of what the future of music holds.

Blurring, nay, erasing the boundaries between jazz and electronica is all in a day’s work for both of these artists, drummer Richard Spaven from London and composer Sandunes from Mumbai. Their latest collaborative effort ‘SpavenxSandunes’ is testament to the fact that music truly has no boundaries, and creating music collaboratively can be organic and ebullient inspite of apparent logistical challenges. The sensitivity of Sandunes' harmonic meandering combined with the tactful mastery of Richard's stellar syncopated drumming gives rise to a minimal and pensive piece of jazz-tronica. Mellifluous streams of melody woven intricately into a modern, jazzy, progressive rhythmic language create a rather timeless musical tapestry. This is definitely a win for music!

One-man electronic jam band Templo dropped the Zebra EP earlier this year. This melodic glitch extravaganza may be called Zebra, but the music is way more than just black and white. Moody morsels layered atop of gnarly basslines infused with glitchy bits of goodness will leave you feeling wonky and wanting for more. Give these free-flowing funk-bass tunes a spin and get your wobble on.

Ben Wyss aka Sixis has produced an intensely dark techno-emotional masterpiece with “Empty Eye Dawn”, a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk sonic sci-fi spectacle. This electrosentient neurobass orchestra beckons the age when AI overtakes human intelligence, exploring the darker, inscrutable realities that emerge from beneath the surface and the crucial connection between man and machine.

An enigmatic figure in the ambient music scene, Man Of No Ego is an artist who reflects the essence of yoga through his music by unifying spirituality with sound to convey the universal message. This highly befitting union offers a soul cleansing listening experience to the observer till they become one with what is being observed.

Very few artists that I know of are as enthusiastic and enterprising about their music and life’s mission as Symbolico. The soul-child project of Or-Ron Stern from Israel, the Symbolico sound is a surreal amalgamation of ambient vibes that bear the promise of magic and mystery, with groovy tribal rhythms which take us back to the humble developmental beginnings of human culture and cutting edge technological production.

Kukan Dub Lagan is the project of Itay Berger. His unique music style can be best described as psy-chill free dub.

A veteran of the chill out scene and one it’s main propagators, Itay has harnessed nature’s own harmonic oscillators through his machines and mind to create a sentient, minimal ambient journey. 

The ‘downtempo-psy’ genre contains some subtle yet impactful musicality. Case in point: the album in focus today: "Messages From The Resonator” by the dynamic duo of the chillout scene Globular and Geoglyph. Some of the most exciting stuff in music is happening in this very sonic ecosystem.
